Homeless To Six Figures E Course

Step 3: Skills Pay The Bills

Let’s face it. You need money to pay those bills, right? There’s no feeling like not knowing HOW you’re going to pay your bills. Can you relate to this feeling?

During October of 2014,  I didn’t know how I would pay my bills. I was looking for a job, but no one hired me. I was so discouraged, but I refused to be defeated because I had a healthier mindset. I started believing and clinging to my truths. The main truth that stuck out to me was Deuteronomy 8:18 which stated that God had given me the power to create wealth. I pondered that scripture… how was I going to create the wealth? What could I do?

Are You Discounting Your Gifts?

One day, a good friend asked me to coach her in some areas that she felt I had experience in. I was nervous at first because I DID NOT THINK MY SKILLS WERE VALUABLE. I mean… those were JUST SOMETHINGS I WAS GOOD AT. Who would pay ME…right??? WRONG.

Many times we overlook our gifts and talents and don’t recognize their true value and worth to the marketplace. I know I did.

My friend told me what she needed from me and asked me to write a proposal of my services to submit to her. YA proposal..yikes!!!

One evening I wrote down all of my friend’s needs and then sat down and wrote out all of my skills that could fulfill those needs. I wrote down all of the things I had accomplished. I wrote down skills from my corporate America days. I wrote down all of the things I learned about social media. I wrote down all of the things I learned from self publishing my best-selling book. I wrote down all of the skills I learned from blogging, Youtube, email marketing, etc… Catch my point?

By the time I got finished, I realized that I had so much to offer, especially with social media, branding and messaging. I also had a track record to prove it. ( We will discuss this point in more detail in Step 4.)

I put together a package for my friend and presented it to her with a price tag of… $3,000. Where did that number come from? She shared with me that other coaches’ packages started at $500 per month. I figured I could deliver more value and needed about 6 months to help her from start to finish. So $500 times 6 months equaled $3,000.

My stomach was in knots when I presented my package. I felt a lump in my throat when I stated the investment.

She was quiet for a few minutes and then said, “I love it! I will make my down payment and start on November 1.”

Daaaaaaannnnnggg!!! I couldn’t believe it. Just like that…she said yes. She paid her invoice and I was in business. I didn’t know it then, but I was well on my way to $30,000 in 3 weeks!!! However, there were a few things I had to learn to get me to that point. I will go over them in the next steps.

I got my very first client offering the gifts and talents that I already possessed. I was ENOUGH. You are enough, too, {$name}.

For today, I want you to take inventory of your gifts and talents. What are your skills? LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED. Your skills can pay your bills, too.

Is there someone out in the world getting paid for what you know how to do? IF SO… YOU’VE GOT A BUSINESS IDEA. THERE’S A MARKET FOR YOUR TALENTS!!!
