The Healthy Hair Boot Camp

Hello! My name is Shalena D.I.V.A. In June of 2011, I embarked upon a healthy hair journey because my once thick, lovely tresses had become  thin and brittle. MY HAIR  WAS A HOT MESS! I even had a bald spot on the crown of my head. This bothered me because I’ve always been known for my healthy, thick hair. (The picture on the left is how my hair used to look a few years back.) Frustrated, I reached out to Rasheda Stewart, the creator of Rapunzel Hair Products, and she told me how to bring my hair back to life. I did everything she said to do which included: weekly shampoo and deep condition, sulfate free shampoo and conditioners, limit direct heat, daily moisturizer, and sealant. I did this all summer long not knowing if this was working on my hair because I wore a half wig most of the time to insure I kept unnecessary heat off of my hair. Curiosity got the best of me so I straightened my hair at the end of the summer to see what my hair actually looked like. I was blown away by how healthy and vibrant my hair had become. It was alive again! I don’t have a before picture because I was too ashamed to take a picture of my hair in the terrible condition it was in during June of 2011.  Well, below is a picture taken of my hair on 8/26/11, merely weeks after I starting doing everything Rasheda told me to do.

Please note, I DO NOT HAVE A RELAXER. I HAVEN’T HAD ONE IN 6 YEARS!!!!!

My hair on 8/26/11

Once I realized that my new hair regimen was working, I started educating myself on natural hair care. I was surprised to find a whole world of women who were growing their hair to amazing lengths without chemicals. I found great information on Youtube and began implementing many of the things I learned. For example, I found out the wonders of Jamaican Black Castor Oil and other natural remedies for hair. Remember that bald spot I told you about at the crown of my head… well, here’s a side by side comparison of  how my crown grew back in only 30 days! I’m no longer bald on top! Check out this picture!

Pretty impressive right?!? I made tremendous progress in only 30 days using all natural products!

WHY AM I SHARING MY STORY?

When I became conscious of my healthy hair journey, I was overwhelmed by the mountains of information out there. I didn’t know where to start or how to digest all of the information I was finding–and there is a TON of information out there! I started sharing my progress on my facebook page and realized that so many women wanted to learn how to go natural, too. Due to the high level of interest, I created the FREE

Thanks Ms. Diva! I can’t wait for this to begin, for myself and by 11 yr. old daughter! Relaxers have stripped our hair. This is a big step for us, but when I see the progress of healthy growing natural hair, it will be worth it.

just wanted to share that my hair has became thick and curly in its natural state. don’t remember my hair being like this. But any who, I went had a treatment (didn’t do my own being LAZY, LOL) and a roller set and why my hair felt and looked like i had a fresh perm. So I will be adding roller set to my list. now i am going to try kinky curly and see how that does for my hair. My protective style has been short cut wigs. I keep my hair wrapped and oil and covered with a satin cap then my wig. I dont touch my satin at all or my hair just to massage my scalp. whew, that was alot to share…lol

  34. www.shalenadiva.com via Facebook on December 5, 2011 at 1:21 pm

I’m glad the boot camp is helping you! Rollersets are the truth. Hopefully, I’ll get it together with my videos and will start creating tutorials. There’s so much we can do with our hair!!!!
