A FEW GOOD MEN: CHARLES F. PORTER

Charles F. Porter is an actor who resides in Los Angeles, California. He atteneded Duke University where he played football and graduated in 2001. He’s 6’3″ and enjoys fishing, golfing, reading, writing, and traveling. After he accomplishes his goals as an actor, he wants to venture into politics. We interviewed Charles F. Porter for our “Few Good Men” issue and here are his answers on life and relationships.

Are you spiritual? If so, how?  Yes. I read my Bible as well as other forms of spiritual belief. I am Jewish by law having a Jewish mother, but practice in the Christian faith.

What is your greatest achievement?  I haven’t accomplished my greatest achievement quite yet, but I am getting close.

How do you handle setbacks?  I handle setbacks the same way I handle accomplishments… Knowing that it’s going to take work to sustain the accomplishments and realizing that the setbacks are only a challenge to make me better and to learn from the mistakes. Setbacks just create other options.

If there’s one quote you could live by, what would it be and why? My favorite quote is NEVER QUIT. .. It simply speaks for itself. If you never stop trying to get something done you will ultimately win.

How have your life’s experiences shaped you into the man you are today?  Playing college ball taught me to fight through hard times and adversity. I didn’t win many games but I always came to play and win no matter who we were facing. Then Acting is a totally different type of game. I went a year or so before booking my first job but i knew this was what I wanted to do and loved to do. Since then I have guest appeared on many top shows and have shot movies in different countries.

Are you currently on any social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn? If so, please list your handles if you’d like. I have a website www.charlesfporter.com. I’m on FaceBook just to keep up with friends and let them know about my progress as I battle cancer.  (If you’d like to keep up with Charles and his battle with cancer, please go to http://neverquit.charlesfporter.com/).

Family Relationships-

What is your relationship like with your mother?  My mom and I are as close as can be. When she was away we talked two to three times a day. Now she is by my side 24/7. She is a rock and the best teammate.

Did you have a father figure or positive male role model growing up?  My dad is a great role model. We are very different in many ways being that he is a very straight edge military man and I come from the artistic side of things, but he has had great influence on me as well. I have learned much from taking things seriously and knowing that life is not a game.

Do you have any children? If so, what if your relationship like with them and their mother?  NO KIDS.

Romantic Relationships-

Why are you single or not in a committed relationship?  At this present time I am not married, but I’m in a relationship.

What is the longest relationship you’ve ever been in? Why did you break up? Did you learn anything from it?  My longest relationship was with my heart school sweet heart. I was 17. When I went away to college, the distance proved to be too much. Our relationship ended during my first year of college. I learned that when you have a good one keep a good one.

Do you want to get married?  I would love to get married.

What are you looking for in a relationship?  Looking for peace, honesty, kindness, respect and lust in relationship.

What qualities do you find attractive in a woman?  Great qualities in a woman are being funny, educated and kind. Being into sports is a plus.

Do you believe a woman’s role is in the kitchen?  Can you handle a successful woman? I love a woman that can handle biz in the kitchen and run her business. Success is attractive.

When it comes to women, what is your definition of beauty?  Beauty is serving with a smile… I won’t ask anything of my girl that I wouldn’t do for her.
